Besides being a gallery, it's also an excellent grand café; it's the new living room of culture-loving Leiden. As soon as you step inside Leidse Lente, you'll immediately feel at ease; there's so much to discover that you'll almost feel like you need more than a few eyes. The furniture is very diverse, there's a stage with a drum kit and a beautiful grand piano, in one corner you can play Plato's records the old-fashioned way, there's a shop-like area called "De Hotshop" with display cases featuring works by artists and goldsmiths, and on the separate upper floor, there's professional exhibition space.
Every six weeks, the exhibition changes, each time with a different theme. Programming is built around the chosen theme, including lectures, films, workshops, and music. This creates connections within Leiden and the surrounding area. And then there are the restrooms; they are works of art in themselves.
Leidse Lente is also the living room of Haagweg 4, the multi-tenant building housing 55 studios and 25 creative businesses. Leidse Lente aims to bridge the gap between artists and the rest of the city. That's why we launched the Cultural Service Desk Central, where everyone can go with questions. The service desk represents the interests of in-house artists and businesses, but certainly also of creators from the city. Cultural ideas or questions can be submitted to the Cultural Service Desk. This initiative will serve as a coordinator and improve synergy within the city.
Leidse Lente, Leiden's cultural hotspot and the calling card of Haagweg 4.
