KITLV Festival 175 Jaar

We are opening our doors and organizing a public festival in collaboration with Leiden University Libraries (UBL) in honor of our 175th anniversary. The diverse program brings together elements that characterize the Association and the Institute.

The Association presents activities and publications that have been supported in recent years. Researchers from the Institute creatively showcase their projects. The works that have emerged from the Atelier KITLV are exhibited and explained. There is also a focus on food, dance, documentaries, and spoken word. At our neighbors at the UBL, manuscripts, photographs, maps, and other objects from the KITLV Collection are highlighted.

During this public festival, we also want to reflect on the past 25 years. Our work stems from curiosity, engagement, and experience, and we are eager to discuss this. What does our work mean, and for whom is it important? What should we pay more attention to, and what should we guard against? During the festival, there is ample room for conversations and discussions, especially with people from the countries, societies, and communities with whom we (want to) collaborate and which our work is about.
