Celebrate spring
Take a look at the blossoms in the museum garden of the Wereldmuseum. Did you know that: the first tulips were successfully grown in the Hortus botanicus Leiden by Carolus Clusius at the beginning of the 17th century.
The first Dutch tulip
The first tulip in the Netherlands naturally comes from… Leiden! The first tulips were successfully grown in the Hortus botanicus by Carolus Clusius at the beginning of the 17th century. This became the first major tulip collection in Europe. The real hit of spring grows in the Tropical Greenhouse. Admire the Jade flower in bloom, in March and April the plant produces meters of long tendrils with a cascade of bright blue flowers.

The white-pink Japanese cherry blossoms at the World Museum in Leiden bloom in late March or early April. The trees were a gift from Japan years ago, where blossom viewing is a popular activity.
