Potter Gemma Boetekees mainly makes ‘utilitarian ceramics’: turned on the potter's wheel, decorated with clay silt and the ringeloor and designed with everyday use in mind.
Everything is clay: ‘I make dishes, bowls, cups and candlesticks etc. on the potter's wheel in the traditional way with red-firing and white-firing Westerwald clay.’ The pots get a drawn decoration of clay and the glazes also have a considerable clay content.
