King's Day is just around the corner!
The city is almost orange again! Hang out the flag, get your orange outfit out of the closet and enjoy. From parties on King's Night, to the King's Day games, a free festival, flea markets and much more.
Children's flea market
At the annual children's flea market, children can sell their old toys and books for a pretty penny to make other children happy. This year, the market will be held in the Hooglandse Kerkgracht and Breestraat in Leiden from 10:00 to 16:00.
A permit is required. This can be picked up at the City Office (Bargelaan 190, Leiden):
- April 8, 2026: 2:00 PM–4:00 PM
- April 15, 2026: 2:00 PM–4:00 PM
- April 17, 2026: 2:00 PM–4:00 PM
Puppet theatre
Jan Klaassen and Katrijn will be performing (in Dutch) at Het Gerecht on King's Day. Come and watch! The performance is on Saturday 26 April from 10:00 to 12:00. Pieter Onderwater is the puppeteer and plays Jan Klaassen and Katrijn in one of the oldest (60 years!) puppet theatres in the Netherlands.
