Former Academic Hospital
The first academic hospital built specifically for that purpose, predecessor of the Leiden University Medical Center.
In use from 1873 to 1928. Around 1900, it had 250 beds. Sick people could be cared for free of charge if their illness was ‘useful for educational purposes’. Since 1937, it has been home to the Wereldmuseum.
