Koen de Vries’ portraits are like an excavation of all the impressions that shaped humans. The psyche, the pecking order, the drive to reproduce and the drive to create gods. Is this ‘the soul’ going through a new episode of what life has in store for him?
Nicole Carvajal’s paintings are based on loose elements from reality in a poetic context. She feels challenged to shape the process of seeing and being seen, between men and women, artist and model. Her work carries a spiritual intensity, balanced by irony and use of colour.
