From 19 December until 15 March, Japanmuseum SieboldHuis presents the enchanting exhibition “Kawase Hasui. Capturing the Soul of Japan.” The landscapes of Hasui (1883–1957), a master of printmaking, reveal a world full of atmosphere, tradition, and beauty.
Through more than 100 masterful prints, you travel to the Japan of the 20th century. A country undergoing rapid transformation, where Hasui instead emphasized calm and harmony in his serene landscapes and village scenes.
The exhibition presents a selection of both rare early works and illustrations for menus, magazines, posters, and postcards. With this exhibition, Japanmuseum SieboldHuis is organizing the very first Hasui exhibition in Europe.
