De X-Night

Music Venue De X, in collaboration with the van RIJN Festival, presents a special double concert featuring Persian, Ottoman, Sufi, and Anatolian music. This evening, ensembles Didar and Nasin bring a rich and enchanting program that seamlessly blends tradition with innovation.

Didar – meaning ‘encounter’ – is a collaboration between oud player Tristan Driessens and Iranian musicians Shahab Azinmehr (tar, setar, vocals) and Farid Kheradmand (percussion, vocals). The trio weaves original compositions with timeless classics from the Persian and Ottoman traditions, as well as influences from early European music. The performance features both instrumental and vocal pieces, including powerful improvisations based on the mystical Sufi poetry of Omar Khayyam, Rumi, and others.

Nasin was born from a meeting in Istanbul and consists of three passionate musicians: Zilan Yildiz (vocals, percussion), Lucie Lelaurain (flute, duduk, vocals), and Bori Malyi (vocals, bağlama, lavta). Together, they present a curated selection of Anatolian repertoire, including Turkish, Armenian, and Kurdish pieces. Grounded in tradition yet performed with a vibrant, contemporary flair, their music is atmospheric and emotionally charged, sure to captivate any audience.
