Biodiversity Expedition - Let's Bloomit

Mapping biodiversity with your phone in Leiden, scanning a tree

The city changes rapidly in autumn – and this is reflected in nature. During Expedition Autumn Nature, map Leiden's biodiversity in exchange for a voucher from VVV Leiden.

Download the ObsIdentify app on your smartphone, head out with a magnifying glass if you have one, and collect data on mushrooms, lichens, birds, insects, or other natural finds. The data on the different species found can be viewed on the waarneming.nl platform, which provides useful information for nature lovers, scientists, and policymakers who want to give nature a helping hand! And of course: participants will be rewarded with a small gift, a free city walk of their choice from VVV Leiden or free admission to the Young Rembrandt Studio.

The activity is suitable for young and old alike and invites you to look at your own environment with new eyes. A fun, educational and useful autumn activity that fits in with the aim of a green and biodiverse Leiden. So: put on your boots, get out there and look for 15 species in Leiden!

This campaign is part of Let's Bloomit. Leave the city even more beautiful after your visit than it was before you arrived. That way, we can make Leiden bloom for everyone.
