Exhibition - Indonesian Bronze
At Museum Volkenkunde, you will be able to see more than 200 Indonesian objects made from bronze. This might not sound all too interesting, but wait until you learn about the historic and cultural aspects of the age-old collection.
The bronze statues come with an intricate story about Indonesia and its rich history. The statues, mainy of which have buddhist and hindu influence, portray stories of rituals, materials, trade relations, economic developments, and the country's colonial past. Interestingly, although most objects come from Java, the metals to make them didn't due to the country's historic lack of resources.
