Walk-in concert Practicum Musicae

Double students from Leiden University and the Royal Conservatoire give their monthly surprise concert with a widely varied program of classical music.
This includes music from three centuries, including Mozart's variations on the theme “Hélas, j'ai perdu mon amant” for cello and piano, Schubert's piano sonata No. 20 in A major, Arensky's “Elegia” from his Trio no. 1 for violin, cello and piano, by Cassadó the “Preludio – Fantasia” for solo violoncello, by Gershwin his well-known “It ain't necessarily so” with violin and piano, and by Osborne the “Rhapsody for bassoon” played with bassoon solo. The performers are Esther Meershoek and Freke van Krimpen (violin), Honorine Charbonnier and Mare Plantinga (cello), Castor Smiet (bassoon) and the pianists Ilja de Goede, Naut de Koning, Shun Fei Francke and Simon van Prooijen. Admission is free (voluntary contributions welcome!).
