In Greek mythology, Gaia is the personification of Mother Earth. The artist made the sphere to scale, which is 1.8 million times smaller than the real Earth. If you were to stand at a distance of 211 meters from this work, you would see the Earth as it is visible from the moon.

Gaia is seven meters in diameter and features 120 dpi detailed NASA images of the Earth's surface. It gives you the opportunity to see our own planet as the crew of the Apollo 17 saw it, in 1972. A specially created composition by BAFTA award-winning composer Dan Jones will be played during the exhibition. The work offers a new perspective on our place on earth; a sense that all societies of the earth are interconnected and that we have a responsibility to each other. It makes us think about the question: how do we treat our earth and what is our relationship with nature?
