Fancy a day at the museum?
In that case, Leiden is the place to be! Leiden has something for everyone. Within the city centre and the Bio Science Park alone you will find no less than 13 museums. The new OV-museumlijn 10 bus connects these museums, making it possible to combine visits to multiple museums or pop into town for shopping, a boat tour or a city walk.
Never a long wait
The OV-museumlijn runs daily between 10.00 and 17.00 hrs, with departures every 20 minutes. You can find the bus timetable at leiden.nl/ museumbus, or plan your trip door-to-door at arriva.nl, the Arriva-app or 9292.nl.
OV-chipkaart or single use bus ticket
Naturally, you can use your OV-chipkaart (public transport chip card) to travel on the OV-museumlijn. If you do not have an OV-chipkaart or insufficient balance on your card, you can choose to buy a single use one-way ticket (‘Gemakskaart’: Convenience Card) for 2,20 euro from the bus driver.
Please note that bus tickets can only be paid with a debit or credit card. At VVV Leiden (Tourist Information Office, located at Stationsweg 26) you can buy a Gemakskaart and pay in cash. Or buy a OV-chipkaart with a debit card. The Studenten OV Vrij Reizen-abonnement (student travel pass) is not valid on the OV-museumlijn 10.
Bring along three kids for free!
Each adult can bring along three kids aged 4 – 11 for free, providing the travelling party does not exceed 8 persons.
From October 2018, the ‘OV-museumlijndagkaart’ will be available on the lijn 10 bus (and other locations) at 4,30 euro. This day ticket allows unlimited travel on the OV-Museumlijn, as well as any other Arriva city or region bus in Leiden, Leiderdorp, Oegstgeest and Voorschoten. Keep an eye on the museum websites and arriva.nl for great combined ticket deals (museum entry + public transport).
